jQuery Mobile Project announced
Good news folks, jQuery has announced their jQuery Mobile Project on their blog.

they're planning to get jQuery Mobile running on all platforms and major browsers across the mobile world.
what is jQuery Mobile?
"Touch-Optimized Web Framework for Smartphones & Tablets
A unified user interface system across all popular mobile device platforms, built on the rock-solid jQuery and jQuery UI foundation. Its lightweight code is built with progressive enhancement, and has a flexible, easily themeable design"

The jQuery project is really excited to announce the work that we’ve been doing to bring jQuery to mobile devices. Not only is the core jQuery library being improved to work across all of the major mobile platforms, but we’re also working to release a complete, unified, mobile UI framework.Absolutely critical to us is that jQuery and the mobile UI framework that we’re developing work across all major international mobile platforms (not just a few of the most popular platforms in North America). We’ve published a complete strategy overview detailing the work that we’re doing and a chart showing all the browsers that we’re going to support.Right now we’re working hard, planning out the features that we want to land and doing testing against the devices that we want to support — and hoping for a release later this year.

Planning for jQuery MobileThe primary focus of this effort is to design a cross-platform mobile UI system for jQuery. That being said, we believe that a shared design language and underlying code across all devices -- desktop, tablet, smartphone -- is going to result in a stronger design system and more maintainable development approach. Our initial explorations consider all three major form factors. Instead of simply tweaking the existing jQuery UI widgets to work on mobile, we're using this opportunity to take a step back and take a fresh look at what jQuery UI could evolve into in the future. Please consider these to be early future-state concepts that may change significantly over the coming weeks and do not represent a specific release.

as you can see, jQuery Mobile will run on MeeGo and Symbian^3 nativly and i think on all other platform, too by the end of the year :-)
and here are some examples of their design (development is still in progress):
