Among other new features, Symbian^3 introduces a finger-optimised UI with enhanced layout and new single-tap interaction style. This UI is described in the Forum Nokia Design and User Experience Library’s article, ‘UI in Symbian^3.

Symbian^3 introduces capacitive screens in touch devices. Starting from Symbian ^3, finger is the main input method instead of stylus. Capacitive touch technology is based on conducting electricity, and threrfore a bare finger is needed to operate with a capacitive touch screen.
