This Workaround should solve 2 recent problems:

•  - N900 keeps rebooting while booting up
•  - N900 keeps rebooting on random

you need:

• - maemo flasher

your steps:

// 1. download recent version of maemo flasher

// 2. install it on your machine a and notice the folder (you'll need it later)

//  3. turn off Maemo device

//  4. press and hold down key 'u'

//  5. connect USB cable between the N900 and your computer while holding down key 'u'

//   6. when USB cable gets connected, it powers the N900 and set's it into flashing mode

//  7. USB icon should appear on right upper corner Maemo device is in flashing mode

// 8. release key 'u'

You should see a USB icon in the upper right corner of the screen on N900.

// 9.  start the command (CMD) in administrator mode

// 10. go into the flasher folder (step 2.) normally it will be here

• c:\programm files\maemo\

// 11. start the flasher with the following command:
       flasher-3.5.exe –-enable-rd-mode

// 12. when it's finished successfully, you should see a success notice in flasher and a second icon on N900 screen

// 13. disconnect the USB cable from N900. the device should start and ask you for time settings, which you have to apply.

// 14. shutdown the N900 and follow the steps 3 - 8. to connect USB cable with your N900

// 15. in your command window type the following command:
       flasher-3.5.exe –-disable-rd-mode

// 16. disconnect the USB cable when you get a notice like "The device is now in producion mode"

from now on your N900 should start and act normally again!
