Nokia announced a new TD-SCDMA phone for China based on Symbian Anna today. this new handset could be a hint how a Nokia N8 successor might look like.

After Nokia T7-00 or 702T, Nokia has "half-officially" announced their new phone for the chinese market:  Nokia 801T. looks like it will be not a flagship phone or equiped with their newest OS. Nokia decides to be more conservative and run Symbian Anna. looks like a another stripped N8 phone like the T7, when it comes to the hardware specs. the new TD-SCDMA handset sports "only" 680Mhz ARM11 processor. but again: the speed of CPU is not all what makes a phone a smartphone. Nokia is answering to the needs on chinese market with stainless steel unibody case,  a 4" ClearBlack LCD transmissive display 360 x 640 pixels, NFC, BT 3.0, 8MP EDOF (50 cm to infinity) cam with Dual-LED Flash, 1300 mAh battery.

there is no real improvement, in terms of hardware imho, besides the 4" screen and NFC. but the most important thing is, this could be a hint from Nokia how the new real successor of the N8 might look like, when it will eventually come to the rest of the world in 2012. i like the design so far and hop, that Nokia will include at least 1Ghz or more CPU, better GPU, a AMOLED 4" screen and a bigger battery: min. 1450mAh AND a improved autofocus camera with 8-12MP.
